I think it is great if you shoot an event and need to pick the best files and send them off quickly. Photo Mechanic is complicated and not intuitive. Is it dead or just getting ready for a newer version? I guess we wait. However Phase One no longer has this software listed on their main site. Media Pro SE is by Phase One so naturally it makes round trips to Capture One fairly easy and can display using the Phase one engine. Media Pro SE, Photo Mechanic and Photo Supreme along with some other things that were not what I wanted. Well I decided I had to go with a different workflow because I can't stand how slow things are. I have all my images Keyworded so I can find stuff but man when searching or trying to add keywords to several hundred files at once the software slows to a crawl. Once you get the catalog filled with files it really bogs down. I used a managed catalog with Aperture so with C1 I did the same thing. I love the quality of the files which I think is better than Aperture. In the end I did not find anything that was a direct replacement.
